25. Vash the Stampede

From a series called Trigun. Like a lot of anime it has a lot more going on behind it than meets the eye.

Trigun takes place in the future when the human race has fled to space. But due to a mishap the colony ships set to land on a new land crash. The survivors go about trying to rebuild civilization.

The bulk of the story takes place in a western millieu combined with ancient technology.

Vash is a man with the largest bounty on his head in the land. A pair of insurance agenst are sent to see to it that the destruction that surrounds him is limited so they don't have to keep paying out insurance claims.

Trouble is Vash is nothing like what they expect. Instead of being a trigger happy outlaw he is a staunch pacifist that refuses to kill anyone.

The story explores a lot of philosophical ideas and convictions. Starts off goofy winds up ripping your heart out in the end.
