why won't my computer 'recognize' my digital camera
I reinstalled the software and the cable is good.
It is a PC with win 2000 pro and a Nikon coolpix 2500
that uses a USB port to transfer data.

5. Click on Start - Control Panel - Scanners and Cameras
Edited on Fri Sep-09-05 03:52 PM by Crazy Guggenheim
Try to manually add it. See what happens.

Also from the Control Panel:

Click on Administrative Tools - Computer Management - Services and Applications - Services

Scroll down to Plug and Play make sure it's started. If not double click on it, set it to Automatic, then start it.

Then look for Portable Devices and follow the instructions in the above.

See if this helps.

8. Sometimes you get a conflict between the camera
software and your antivirus program. Read the instructions carefully, you'll probably find that you need to turn off your av before installing camera drivers and then turn the av back on.
