We're attending a REAL Labor Day parade in Wilmington CA today
One that actually REMEMBERS what this day is truly about. The blood and sweat of millions of Americans who are the life force of our public service, commerce, and trade.

The longshoremen of L.A. Harbor.

The teachers who guide our children.

The farmworkers who pick the crops to put food on our tables.

The firefighters and police who put their lives on the line for public safety.

This is a true blue labor area, where you can eat at restaurants or bars with union decals in the window placed there for solidarity. Proud union members and Democrats: this is OUR day, and make the best of it.

And remember the people of the Gulf Coast today, and the people working hard - volunteers, rescue workers, all of them - who are striving to bring these people to comfort and safety.

3. She took pics!
Hopefully we can post them later. There were a good number of anti-war and anti-Bush signs carried by the workers.

I am glad we went. It was nice being around real people, and like-minded too. :-) :hi:

2. Have a good time.
Our city cancelled Labor Day parades...and when I look around at all the second and third tier shops with "for lease" signs in their windows...it breaks my heart. MrG is living on borrowed time here in Motown, as a CNC programmer. :(
