Kid Notorious?
I thought tonight's show with Rumsfeld was interesting, but since I haven't seen anyone here mention the show, I have to assume no one else is watching either.

It's not funny. I've watched each episode and haven't laughed once. Toooooo forced.

1. It is not the best comedy
but it does have its high points sometimes. I generally like it.

2. It could do a lot better.
Instead it seems to go more for the juvenile humor and tries waaayyy too hard to make it funny, which makes it seem forced and therefore awkward to watch.

3. The Kid Stays In The Picture
It really helps if you've seen that documentary. It's basically a film about Robert Evans, narrated by passages from his autobiography with visuals from old film and television clips, and interviews.

Personally I love the show. I think Robert Evans is hysterical and I adore Puss Puss. Evan's stories are fantastic and somewhat based on true events. He's like a post-modern Baron von Munchausen.

For example, he really was institutionalized, as in last weeks episode, but rather than being rescued by Slash in a helicopter, he was spirited away by English (yes, his butler really is named English and even does the voice for the show) who was waiting at the front gate with Evan's car. They were actually chased by the institution's staff. They don't make Hollywood producers like that anymore.

7. Big time Hollywood producer in the 70s
He produced Rosemary's Baby, Love Story, The Godfather, Chinatown, Paper Moon, Black Sunday, Urban Cowboy, The Two Jakes, and Marathon Man. He was also married to Ali McGraw, who left him for Steve McQueen.

He started out as an actor and became the most successful producer in the seventies. Then he kind of flipped out on drugs, alcohol, etc in the eighties and almost went bankrupt. He recently wrote his autobiography "The Kid Stays in the Picture", that detailed all the excesses and weirdness that surrounded his life. He's got the biggest ego I've ever seen, but I think he's hysterically funny. He seems to be able to talk his way into or out of anything (which is probably why he was such a successful producer. I think he really does see himself the way he is in the cartoon.
