I have a friend who's a paramedic and just came back from there. She says it's a disaster.

I was gonna say what she told me, but I can't (and you know me, I'll say anything) but I can't.

From what she said the situation is pretty dire...

Because it's ugly and disgusting and I can't deal with it anymore.

She said:

People were defecating in the corridors because there were not enough bathrooms to accomodate them.

Three people told her of rapes they had witnessed.

Others just sat there, staring, unmoving, practically catatonic, unable to help the people around them or even themselves

I could give details, but why? That pretty much covers what she told me.

But the headline on the front-page of The Daily Mail here in England was "Third World America" - which sonds pretty apt to me.

The thin veil of 'civilisation' has fallen away - a test has been given and some people truly have failed it.

*N.B. - of course I say some people, there are bound to be many many folk out there (no doubt including your friend) who have passed their part of the test with flying colours - it's just a pity that the higher echelons did not do so.
