What are your most "un-hip" music likes/loves?
This is not a guilty pleasure topic. It's what you proudly love.

I just gave into the Click Five for one. I had heard only samples, but after I heard the full version of "Just the Girl," I started getting hooked. They are what the boy bands of the 90s/early 00s should have been. Newer Hanson is also good.

I like many of the young, female pop/rockers. Not Ashlee Simpson or Hilary Duff (and maybe not Hope Partlow - will give her one more chance if the full album can be listened to online.) But I like more than Avril, Michelle Branch, Hope 7, Alexz Johnson, and Fefe Dobson - also Aly & AJ, Brie Larson, and one Emma Roberts song so far. I buy music from artists young and old if I like the sound.

I like country, including much from the mainstream.

What are yours?

2. None, by viture of my liking it, it all becomes hip :)
I mean . . . I'm so cool you could store a side of beef in me for a month.

Everyone else is so un-hip it's a wonder their pants don't fall off.

3. LOL
I prefer to not be hip, though. I do like some artists (Radiohead, Fiona Apple, Sufjan Stevens, New Pornographers) that balance things out somewhat.

4. Sure, but that stuff they play on the radio and on M-TV is NOT hip
it's very far from hip . . . it's the opposite of hip, in fact, it's pih :)

Everything I listen to is hip strictly because I listen to it. :)

6. It varies from one moment to the next and runs the gamut from
Dan Bern to The Coup (very political rap) to the Grateful Dead to bluegrass to some classical and everything in between.

Pretty much the only thing left out is Freep-minded country music (other country music is on rare occasions acceptable) and the vast majority of "popular" music these days.

so sue me. :P I also like Gilbert and Sullivan.

This in addition to my more "normal" tastes of rock, classical, and bluegrass.

10. Devo!

Ever since They first came out, I have been listening to them (not so much in the last ten years though).

As for country, I like the Dixie Chicks (of course)...Brad Paisley and Blake Shelton are pretty cool too. I got into country after having moved to Eau Claire from Milwaukee years ago. Kind of inevitable. Other than what I've mentioned above, the rest of it is a bunch of whiny shit.

16. John Denver.
Blame it on my parents - they indoctrinated me when I was little and now it reminds me of my happy childhood so I can't stop listening.

I also confess to liking some of the young female pop stars too.

Hevia tends to be more New Age than traditional, but I love some of the selections on "Tierra de Nadie" ( Gaviotes, Naves ).

I also love Carlos Nuñez, also from Galicia but more well known because of his involvement with the Chieftains.
