I mentioned both because in a pinch you eat what's available and making a bunch is cheap. Me, as a kid, when my mom had the nerve to give me egg-salad, dumped my lunch and went to the office for graham crackers and milk. These days, kids would go hungry, so they eat the blasted egg-salad sandwich.

4. Check around your different markets.

I agree with you on the prices of some lunchmeat. I won't pay it! The store I usually shop at has gone insane with the prices in the deli, and unless they have something on sale that I like, and the price is rational, I just go to the meat dept. and buy one of the packaged lunch meats like Braunschweiger, or one of the different hams they offer.

BUT, we went last week to a local supermarket, and they had some good specials. Honey ham was $1.99/lb and roast beef was $4.99/lb.

It wasn't Boar brand, but it was very good. Check around the different stores in your area, I'm sure you'll find someting you can be happy with.
