Love American Style! a.k.a: what goes in a time capsule for 1970!
Love, Love, Love

Love, American Style,
Truer than the Red, White and Blue.
Love, American Style,
That's me and you.

And on a star spangled night my love, (My love come to me).
You can rest you head on my shoulder.
Out by the dawn's early light, my love
I will defend your right to try.

Love, American Style,
That's me and you.

**********

For me, it's my P.O.W. bracelet.

27. I so wanted that hairstyle!
Especially in the opening credits when she was all dolled up like a princess. What a little girl's dream...

But Donald was unattractive and kind of a loser.

I kind of thought so too. I also had a thing for Mrs Livingston but I was 9 in 1970 so... I had lots of crushes on anyone who made cookies.

12. My "Let it Be" 45

When I find myself in times of trouble
Mother mary comes to me
Speaking words of wisdom, let it be.
And in my hour of darkness
She is standing right in front of me
Speaking words of wisdom, let it be.
Let it be, let it be.
Whisper words of wisdom, let it be.

And when the broken hearted people
Living in the world agree,
There will be an answer, let it be.
For though they may be parted there is
Still a chance that they will see
There will be an answer, let it be.
Let it be, let it be. yeah
There will be an answer, let it be.

And when the night is cloudy,
There is still a light that shines on me,
Shine on until tomorrow, let it be.
I wake up to the sound of music
Mother mary comes to me
Speaking words of wisdom, let it be.
Let it be, let it be.
There will be an answer, let it be.
Let it be, let it be,
Whisper words of wisdom, let it be.

18. Lots and lots and lots of cocaine.
And a picture of the girl I almost married when I was 20, and am SO much better off for not having done so.

(That's not an insult. I recently re-connected with that young lady after we hadn't seen each other for 30 years, and although we still like each other, she agrees it would have been a disaster. Not the least for the fact I'd have never met Mrs R. What a bummer THAT would have been.)

29. As a kid
I used to love watching all sorts of reruns of sitcoms, but Love American Style went over my head due to the the fact that it was a show mostly aimed at adults. Adult stories about adult romance, even though done in a comedic fashion, held no interest for this 6-10 year old kid. Though for some reason, I LOVED the theme song to the show! Many is the time Love American Style would be playing opposite one of my many favorite classic tv shows. But I would tune into LAS long enough to watch and hear the opening theme. Then turn the channel back to whatever sitcom I prefered watching at the time.

Today, I would love to see episodes of LAS in their entirety. I have only one episode on tape: The episode that contained the segment: "Love and the Happy Days", which served as a pilot episode for the tv series "Happy Days".

BTW: Here is a page that has video and sound clips of the opening theme:

cracked their wrist bones and they were banned. Before the banning one of my teachers allowed a "klack off" in class so we could get this "mania" out of our systems.
