I had heat exhaustion on Saturday while working at the farm where I board my horse. It was so hot on Sunday that my pool was as warm as bath water. Last night we had a HUGE storm. It was a real gully washer.

I sympathize with your landscape problems. Maybe Jesus wants you to plant a forest of native trees and shrubs in place of your lawn? Just a thought! Trees slow and conteol storm water runoff and mulched and vegetated areas under trees allow for infiltration. Plus, trees cool your environment and provide wildlife habitat. :)

If you want to plant fescue seed you'll need to wait until it's cooler. If you're planting Bermuda, Zoysia or Centipede then now is the time. You need plenty of straw mulch for seed. If you have bare, scraped clay then the soil's structure and thus its porosity has been destroyed. Without porosity runoff and erosion is is the inevitable result. :(
