4. One of your own or one from the web?
If it's one of your own, you need to host it on a website like photobucket.com (it's free)

If you want to copy a picture - right mouse click, hit properties and then highlight and copy the URL address.

I normally hit preview first - not all internet pictures can be hotlinked.

7. As a quick addendum to JJ's post
If you're using photobucket (or indeed any other source), the U.R.L. should end .jpg or .gif for the picture to show by itself - photobucket gives three options the top one of which has the jpg extension.
