Which psychotic fascist dictator's book would you rather read?
If forced at gunpoint, which would you rather read:

"Mein Kampf"

or

"A Charge to Keep" (what sort of retarded name of a book is that?! At least Hitler had style. Bush is just vulgar and pretentous... I could tell him where he can put his charge though...)

Also, for Amazon.com's review of "A Charge to Keep", should I write in a user comment saying "Mein Kampf" felt like a more honest read?

1. I've Read Mein Kampf
And I see many of the same stragedy and tactics outlined in the book used by the GOP.

3. Speaking of 'psychotic facist dictators'...
I'm not sure he totally fits the bill of 'psychotic facist dictator' (probably 2 out of three of those, anyway -- your choice on which), but I've wanted to get around to reading (at least part of) the Green Book by Khadafy. The main reason is because it's completely unfamiliar to me, but also because the excerpts I have read quoted elsewhere seem incongruous with the media's image of the man.

It's probably better written than 'A Charge to Keep', too...

10. That's one

I'd say he's a dictator, too, so that's two.

The thing is, I'm not sure he's 'classically facist' (economically speaking).

So, as I said, at least 2 out of 3.

(on edit)

Wait: Are we talking about Bush or Khadafy? I was talking about Khadafy (although I think both have said that God talks to them...thus the confusion...).

14. Ok, I see where you're coming from!
:D

I was definitely speakin' of Bush, though it's interesting he's not the only leader who thinks God talks to him.

Makes ya wonder if God is playing a game with his Creation, or if his Creations are all raving-mad nutters...

6. The Red Book has more practical advice than the others mentioned
No idea on how well it was written, since I've never read it in Chinese.
The English translation reads like, well, an English translation of Chinese.

Translating a written work from Chinese to English seems to suck all the life out of it.

11. I'm pretty sure you're right about it being Hess
Hitler was in jail at the time. That's about all I remember about its writing.

15. Admittedly, I've never read "Mein Kampf"...
Edited on Sun Nov-09-03 02:06 PM by NightTrain
...but I suspect it would provide a fascinating look into the mind of the most despised figure of the 20th century.

Plus, having read Marc Toland's 1,100-page biography of Hitler, I do know that the fuehrer (sp?) was both intelligent and articulate, which is more than we can say for Dubya.

16. /Mein Kampf/
/A Charge To Keep/ was written when the former governor was running as a moderate, a "compassionate conservative". We've seen this not to be the case anyways.

I'd read /Mein Kampf/ to get familiar with Nazi propaganda so I could compare it to today's right-wing propaganda and alert people to any similarities.
