Pentagon announces September 11 concert
http://www.theage.com.au/news/world/pentagon-announces-september-11-concert/2005/08/10/1123353364623.html
In case you missed this in LBN.Read the whole article as there are some good quotes.

I bet we could come up with plenty of good music and musicians who would participate. I don't understand these guys. How about Country Joe and the Fish?

The Pentagon would hold a massive march and country music concert to mark the fourth anniversary of the September 11 terrorist attacks, US Defence Secretary Donald Rumsfeld said in an announcement tucked into an Iraq war briefing today.

"This year the Department of Defence will initiate an America Supports Your Freedom Walk," Rumsfeld said, adding that the march would remind people of "the sacrifices of this generation and of each previous generation".

The march will start at the Pentagon, where nearly 200 people died on September 11, 2001, and end at the National Mall with a show by country star Clint Black.

6. I thought maybe loungelizards that don't get out much might not have.
I know. What the heck are they thinking? This is bizarre. Let's have a party, a concert to celebrate 9/11!!!

7. Good thinking
I've hardly been in the Lounge, been on Cindy watch in LBN, GD, and GDP.

I'm still trying to figure out why my kids only go to school half a day that day, but all day on Pearl Harbor Day.

9. Haven't been lounging much myself, bopping in and out when need break
I prefer Cindy all the time to Terri. Or MJ or any of that other stuff that doesn't help the world be a better place but serves as distraction.

2. Why country music especially?
I'm getting tired of them assuming that if you like country you support their agenda. Arg.

8. It's BS
And the "country music" they are going to get at this concert is about real country as techno music, too. It's nothing but bloodless pop music dressed up in an occaional fiddle and steel guitar..

10. Ok
love ya and all but you should know I'm a devoted tech head. Prog house, miami breaks and not so much on the pretty pretty stuff. The problem most ppl have is they haven't been exposed to the right tech to understand it or feel it.
Not jumping down your throat, just wanted to educate a little. We agree on the subject at hand. Bets on Toby Keith apperance??

11. I'm not dissing techno
I'm saying that it has about as much to do w/ country music as what's called "country music" on the radio...

BUT, that seem to be their assumption.

It's like the all poodles are dogs, but all dogs aren't poodles thing.

Should be a great time!

Especially if we kill Rumsfeld, cut his head off, and parade it through the crowd like at the end of Macbeth!

20. Naw, Willie would be too high to participate in this concert.
Althouh him smoking a joint on stage would be a huge middle finger to all the freepers in the crowd!

a detour to play at a fundraiser or protest. Anybody else hear that?
