1. for the Macintosh....
MS announced last week that wouldn't do any more Mac versions. Windows users will have IE for years to come.

14. Speaking of Macs
I have been a DOS/Windows user since 1986 (When Windows was in beta release). I just bought a Powerbook G4 and I will NEVER buy another PC/Windows machine. The Mac is absolutely wonderful ... stable, intuitive, and lean! IMHO

2. Methinks
Perhaps you heard the news that M$ was no longer going to develop IE for the Macintosh

T'would seem that competition from Safari has rendered further development moot.

Unca' Billy can't control the platform, so he's taking his ball and going home ;(

4. safari
It is the browser that I am using as I type. It is excellent. Very fast, tabs, no pop-ups, and the cleanest interface I have ever seen.

6. Funny
That's how I feel about Opera. Same features, tight code.

5. IE will become part of the OS, just like they planned on
before they were found guilty, then had Asscroft set them free.

I believe it will not be a standalone app. If you are on a Mac you have a lot of choices, including Opera.

I use a variety of Browsers, Safari, Mozilla, Netscape, Chimera, Konqueror, and links.
Safari is my favorite at this time.

IE doesn't have tabbed browsing so I have no use for it. All the above except links has tabbed browsing.

From the apple site:
http://www.apple.com/safari/
Browsing with tabs
Say you’re reading a web page filled with intriguing links, but you want to continue reading that page. You could always choose to open links in a new window, but you might end up with dozens of windows that way. Safari lets you see and switch between multiple web pages in a single window, using tabs. You can even open a folder of bookmarks in a single click with AutoTab. Before you know it, Safari has loaded all your favorite sites. Tabs elegantly resize themselves based on number open, and there’s a convenient close button on each tab.

13. Ever since AOL bought Netscape ...
it has become an absolute peice of shit. I have been using Windows since version 2.0 (back in the eighties). It is no less buggy now than it was then. All Microsoft products SUCK. They are trying to be everything to everybody, when it turns out they are very little to very few.

When I first started surfing the web, I bought Netscape version 1.02 . It was far superior to IE. Now I use IE exclusively, because Netscape has become unbearable. I am still no fan of IE (or anything Microsoft), but it is better than Netscape. AOL turned this superior product into a crappy toy.

Cheers
Drifter

PS - I am a Unix guy, that does most of his work on Windows. I have not even tried any other browser types.

8. Forced upgrades and more fascist Microsoft manipulation
That's another reason why I switched to Linux.

It's definitely a different OS, but it's definitely a far better one.

12. Bleh, I use Opera too
and won't touch IE, it's so 1997. I wonder if MS has figured out the joys of tabbed browsing and pop up prevention yet?
