People with J as their middle initial
Do you use your middle name? Are you known by combining your middle initial with your first initial--in other words, "CJ," "MJ," "TJ," or some other combination? Was it your choice to call you by that nickname?

Is there a horrible name to go along with the J? Or perhaps something simple, like "John" or "Joseph?"

For those who are not "Js"--do you combine initials for a nickname? Is it something that others gave you, or is it something you like?

My great nephew is a "CJ"--his name is Cory Jordan. Once in a while, we call him CEEG (with a soft C). His first name is his father's, and his middle name came from Michael Jordan. My sister also used the name "Lee" with all her kids--Tammy Lee, Diane Lee, and Christopher Lee. Sounds a little Southern to me, but we're from Massachusetts!

I know a couple of other Js--Carol Jean, Theresa Jean and Barbara Jean.

2. My great nephew is "TJ" named for his grandfathers
Thomas Joseph. The minute my niece told me what she planned to name him, I exclaimed, "TJ!" and it stuck. I also have another great nephew (poor little fellow) named Joseph Robert. Alas, his parents decided to call him "Joe Bob." I can just imagine what he's going to be called once he starts school.

4. I use my middle name in lieu of my first name
Why? Because I do not like my first name as it leads to nick-names and joking remarks for which I do not care, plus no one ever spells it correctly. Since my middle name is my mother's family name and she passed away fourteen years ago, this is my way of keeping her name alive.

An example of one of the jokes: About ten years ago I went on a weekend trip with a former girlfriend. When we entered the kitchen for breakfast, one of her friends jokingly remarked to her: "So, what's it like waking up with a 'woodie'"? OK, I'll admit that it did have its humorous side...

5. My son's middle NAME is "J" WITHOUT the period. It was
a compromise, since my hubby (from another culture) thought middle names were stupid.

We compromised, and honored my father and his older brother with "J".

6. So they named their child after a sports star? How pathetic.
Unless Jordan is their relative or friend, in which case it's okay.

But naming a child after a sports guy - or any other kind of celebrity - even a true legend like Jordan - is just pathetic. In my book.

10. I kinda thought so, too
But they were very young and irresponsible. ;)

CJ is a good kid, though. He's going on 11 this year, and is very athletic minded. His favorite game is baseball, and he loves the Red Sox, even though he's in Angels and Dodgers country. :D

7. My first two initials are J
No one has ever called me JJ in my life. I am not sure what I would do if they did.

9. Combining my middle initial "J" with my first initial
brings to mind a certain oral activity, so I generally have discouraged it's use. Though is has worked for MASH dude Honeycutt, Bballer Amrstrong, and the associate of "The Bear".

11. I use my full name
Though I have been tempted time and time again to remove the space between my first name and my middle name. I may do this yet... we'll see.

12. Mrs. V. and I are both K.J.s.
Mrs. V. often goes by "K.J." in online communities, and I used to. Many of her friends know her as "K.J." and so that's what they call her.
