1. * thinks the rapture is related. In reality, it's sloppy misuse and
excessive use that has led to the problem.

And it goes back to reagan for nixoning all the alternative energy programs, claiming obsolescence (and the people being too thick to think things through). Of course, not a single president since then has done much to help and revoking the 55mph federal speed limit was one of the worst things anyone COULD do. (engine peak efficiency with gas is at about 35MPH. From there more gas is used to get up to speed. And as 65MPH uses 15% more gas than 55MPH... oh it adds up quickly...)

i can't believe that in teh day of the H2 any creedence is given to lengthening Daylight savings as an enegry conservation measure.

6. Wouldn't fuel efficiency be related to transmission gearing?
Despite the additional fuel drag if a transmission is geared to go into overdrive at 65 instead of 55 wouldn't that provide better fuel efficiency? I know in my car I can't use 6th gear at 55, I can't even use 5th if going up a steep hill. I seem to get the best fuel economy at 70.

2. Its the crux of the unholy fundie/corporatist alliance dominating the GOP
Edited on Mon Jul-25-05 09:07 AM by youspeakmylanguage
Apparently, since Jesus is coming soon and taking all of his lambs to heaven, it doesn't matter what is done to the earth - pollution, wiping out endangered species, rain forests, etc. - because earth is just temporary housing for the faithful. Therefore the faithful can drive Hummers with impudence - Jesus doesn't care about the ozone.

If you think about it for a minute, it makes perfect and complete sense to the sputtering fundie mind. Only the unsaved will be left behind, so therefore who gives a damn if they live in a polluted, dead wasteland?

4. Dominionism
Always good for a laugh, except when the people in charge are dominionists. Then it's down right scary but after the rapture Earth will be a lot more fun, mark my words.

5. hmmm - can we somehow trick them into rapturing...
or perhaps get them all to jump into a volcano on the false pretense that jesus is down there and calling them. I have a funny feeling if you said "jesus is down there, can't you hear him; can't you see him" - they would jump like lemmings, fearful of being teh one who doesnt hear or see jesus... reminds me of an old fairy tale about a nekkid king...
