I just drove 80 miles to get some home grown corn...
A very nice drive in the country, a change of pace, a waste of gas but, hey, I can still afford 2.29 per gallon and take a drive out to see what corn looks like before it is put in a bag in the freezer....

It's amazing how much farming goes on just outside of Cleveland....

Up until the late 50's, Cleveland had so much farm activity under glass that it stll qualified as an agricultural county......

All thoe truck farms, greenhouses, are clustered around the south side of Cleveland, a place not to many people living here know about....

A grave yard of broken dreams.........

1. Whatcha gonna do with that corn?
Eat it on the cob or cut it off and make cream corn?

I like grilled corn on the cob. YUMMY!

2. On the grill...
I did the carny thing one summer with this friend of mine back in the 70's. We cut a couple of fifty gallon barrels in half, filled 'em up with charcoal, had a vat of melted butter on the side and cooked corn all day long....

It was fun, drinkin' beer from 10:00 AM to 3:00 AM.....

Those were the days...

Now health codes say you can't cook corn like that anymore and sell it...

Oh well, still, there is nothing better than corn on the grill.....

Secret, we soaked it in sugar water to make it sweeter

10. Just not dipping it into a vat of hot butter....
And also, the grills have to be gas fed now.....

At least in the four or five counties we use to operate in...

The guy bought a couple of those trailer stands and goes all over the midwest now....

5. My uncle had a christmas tree farm in backwoods Penn
Mu cousin and I would fill up a canteen, take some PB and Marshmallow sandwhiches with us and take off looking for stuff...

We found this cemetary in the middle of nowhere with dates going back to the late 1700's early 1800's....

Forgotten and overgrown in the middle of a deep woods...

we found some foundations.....

It was like a lost village or something....

I think the water went bad and the people just moved on.....

7. I loved going to Port Clinton
heading to East Harbor ST Park and camping there; we used to pass by rows and rows of corn fields that we'd stop by and buy corn from and roast them over the campfire. Man, that was good...
