I'm listening to Robert Palmer right now .
I think he was a highly underrated artist . I keep " Sneaking Sally Through The Alley " on repeat and also the songs that he did while a member of Powerstation . Sigh , its still hard to believe that he is gone .

4. Yes indeed .
Marvin Gaye was in a class/category on his own that nobody will ever be able to enter .

7. That one is my personal favorite.
Whenever polls are taken to determine the #1 song ever, that one is grossly underestimated. The entire album is a contiguous "joyous noise." Are you familiar with the rest of his work?

It is also my favorite of his. Another one I really like is "Sexual Healing".

10. "Sexual Healing" is a wonderful piece of work.
Are you familiar with his "Vulnerable" sessions, "Let's Get It On" and Here, My Dear". Mr. Gaye is a favorite of mine.

13. There is also some fine work that has been grievously overlooked:
"I Want you"
"Dance With Me"
"Piece Of Clay"
"Trouble Man"
"Got To Give It Up"

Ah, I could be here all day . . .

9. Great, great song!
Members of Little Feat were all over that album to make it extra funky.

16. Which members of Little Feat were involved.
I didn't realize that Jamie Jamerson needed any help getting funky. He is all over the "Motown" sound.

18. So sad about his death.
I spent most of a trans-atlantic flight sitting with him, drinking and talking with him. A witty, intelligent and wonderful British gentleman. Too bad I could never take him up on his invitation to spend some time at his home.

Because I absolutely adore his music ... he is one of my idols . I remember listening to his music when I was little girl and just being amazed at his voice and his style . I like male vocalists more than I do female vocalists for some reason ( because my singing voice is alto ) and he was my fave right beside George Michael ( another Brit ) .

20. Palmer was cool, & those tall girls w/black hair w/the way they sauntered
with their unexpressionable faces to his upbeat music in his videos was an unbeatable combination. I really miss him and his work.

His best songs were kind of simple, but sounded as good as they made you feel. Nobody's replaced him yet.

And yeah you are right about the models and their faces to his music - I loved the way he tried to look serious but you could tell he wanted to bust out in a laugh at any moment ;)
