I think that it was several feet tall....maybe even 5 or 6...I can't be sure, though...At first, I thought I wouldn't be able to photograph it, since we were prohibited from using flash! But one of the people on the tour was able to program the camera so that the flash could be avoided. Right after she did the programming, I left the group and went back to this statue to get the pic. Talk about being happy!

No, the second pic is not the Lion Gate at Mycenae. I'll have to look again to see if I can figure out just what it IS!

I am very touched by your concern. And by everyone's! We were quite safe...even in Libya. There was a lot of curiosity on the part of the people everywhere we went, but I saw no hostility anywhere...But I must add that in Libya, we did have a police escort for our tour coaches, and people were told not to wander away from the group for any self-exploration...so I guess it wasn't entirely safe outside the group! Our local guides in Libya were very welcoming, however. And boy, do they ever need our jourist money! The country is quite impoverished and threadbare...certainly the poorest one we visited.

22. Omigod, you are making me laugh out loud! No, we were NOT

at any Freeper Art Museum! The cycladic figure is in the Grecian National Archaeological Museum in Athens. That place is worth a trip to Athens all by itself...We only had about 5 hours there, and we still did not see even close to everything...It was marvelous.

Turkey, and I knew that probably wasn't it.

I'd love to go to Athens some day! One of my former bosses is from Athens, and he used to go there every summer for his birthday, and I'd make all the travel arrangements and never get to go...and he sent me email this summer from there, too...

30. It is a trip that everyone should make, if at all possible....

Just one caveat, though...DO NOT go in the summer! It is so hot, and the humidity will kill you! I suspect spring or fall would be much better. I've NEVER sweated so much in all my life, I kid you not...
