Imagine 50-60 years ago (or anywhere in between then and now) if Standards and Practices hadn't been around, and what changes that would have brought to our viewing of TV back then.
It's looser now than ever with S&P rules--"penis" "bitch" and "bastard are all acceptable words in TV now, and we long ago dispensed with cloaked language when a woman was pregnant.
I Love Lucy: They would have actually mentioned that Lucy was "pregnant" for one thing, and they would certainly have put Lucy and Ricky in one bed!!!
The Dick Van Dyke Show: Another show where the married couple slept in separate beds. This would have made sure they were cozy and cuddly in ONE bed!
Feel free to explore how television could have been like if we didn't have to worry about puritan values or the wimpy folk who couldn't talk about sex without blushing!
