If you say it how it's spelled, people look at you funny. If you spell it how you say it, you get the letters in all the wrong places.

Break's over. Back on your heads.

1. A lot of words
seem odd, if you say them a few times. :smoke:

2. Yeah, but usually
people try to spell them sort of like they sound.

9. "... people try to spell ..."
What's too freaky is when they SAY them like they're spelled, an then you tell them, and they actually didn't know. The universe is so full of such anomolies.

11. "dollar always sounds weird to me"
Some Canadians say it strangely. Like "dawler".

3. a lot of words are contracted when spoken: uncomf'table
is how most people speak it I guess.

That's why I don't get bent out of shape with Bush's Nuk'lee-ar. That's how I say it about 50% of the time too.

12. I don't shift the "r"
I pronounce it as it is spelled.

13. I say it the way it's spelled.
Probably learned it from my Boston Brahmim-accented mom.

Here's one about spelling conventions I've always liked:
ghoti
gh as in "tough"
o as in "women"
ti as in "action"

Know what the word is?
