any dream interpreters here?
i had the same nightmare 3 times last night. they all involved me suffocating, twice for no reason, just not breathing, but one of em i had somone's hands covering my mouth and nose. and oddly. i didnt fight too hard in any of them if thats any significance.

so... what you got? its a rare event that i have/remember dreams or nightmares. but what you think?

1. This is what I looked up at Dreammoods.com
Suffocating

To dream that you are suffocating, signifies that you are feeling smothered or oppressed by some situation/relationship. Something or someone is holding your back. You are experiencing stress and tension.

5. Your cat was sitting on your face
Edited on Sun Jul-10-05 12:20 AM by kenny blankenship
or you were eating the sheets. You may have wrapped your hair around your nose and mouth, if you have long hair. Or the crazed killer that lives in the crawlspace of your house crept in your window and was pushing a pillow down over your face--although he told me he planned to use a knife.

It could mean any of those things.
Sweet dreams.

6. Someone is trying to kill you, and you feel helpless to stop them.
Either get rid of them or flee in terror.

22. I can take a crack at it
I need to know what you consider a "hillbilly." However, without knowing that I might say this is a subconscious fear of having control taken from you from "undesirables." These undesirables are not of your "circle," but rather a group (possible an individual) who do not share your values, or their values are very foreign to you. For a really 'off the wall' theory, if you are very political, this may be a dream about what is happening with the Republican take over of our country.

10. I got one for you too.
I was going to run outside my house to chase some vandals. I put my foot into a shoe and it didn't fit. I tried a couple times and it was a small womans shoe. What does it mean oh wise ones?

14. As per my other post
If all aspects of the dream are parts of you, then could it be that you are uncomfortable with the idea of the violence it would require to chase the vandals, the shoe doesn't fit. At times old stereotypes like the woman's shoe standing for the "girly" or "wimpy" occur for me. This might say that you don't like violence but you don't fit the woman stereotype either.

As I stated, this could be off by a mile.

13. dreams
Edited on Sun Jul-10-05 01:51 AM by erinlough
I always interpret them as if every part of the dream is a part of me. So the suffocation...what are you stopping yourself from. The hands, yours,....what are your holding yourself back from. The non-struggling,....could it be you are more comfortable not moving forward? Since your are dreaming of these things that are very uncomfortable.....what are you uncomfortable with?

Just a hobby with me and I could be quite off the mark. Just something to think about.

19. oh wow, what am in uncomfortable with.
Edited on Sun Jul-10-05 02:55 AM by LastKnight
life in general, summers only half over and lets see:

girlfriend left me (this one really fucked me up, was the first of this long list)
2 friends from highschool killed themselves.
cousin has brain tumor(s)
brother suffering from similar ongoing condition
my boss (for at least part of the year) died last night. we werent the best of friends but he was a cool guy.
money problems revolving around tuition which is coming up fast
employment problems - until just recently.
a few other personal problems.

so... in short, im very alone (was depressed) and surrounded by death. yea, little uncomfortable lol.

thankfully ive been coming to terms with all this - ill be fine, but all this happening in the span of the last month - its stressful, to say the least.

15. You have sleep apnea
Have a sleep study done :)

Really, if you drank heavily, you may have actually stopped breathing and the dreams were warning you.

Either that, or you watch too much CSI. Sweet dreams!

23. If you are lucky enough to have insurance, get thyself to a sleep lab
They'll watch you slumber and monitor you for episodes of apnea. This is serious! We need all the warm bodies we can get so check it out, LastKnight, or we will have to spank you and put you in the corner!

21. Here are my thoughts
When I 'interpret' dreams, I use the arcane and the psychological. A few other posters have already made some very good points. If you are 'suffocating,' it could indicate you are feeling over-whelmed. (I saw the post with your list, so this is not surprising.) The third dream being different, someone doing it to you, would indicate you are aware of being overwhelmed and you are not trying to stop it. So, you might want to "unload" on some close friends about the "things you cannot change" and re-evaluate the "things you can change." Not a real help, but you might want to think about what you can control and that which is not under your control. The most difficult thing is deciding in which category certain things fall.

Better dreams!
