I have a scanner and it stays on all the time. You know, just in case Osama decides to target rural Mississippi. ;-)

Here's my question. Someone on my scanner keeps miking in with "The Thrill is Gone." I would hope that no law enforcement official is doing this. Can a "common citizen" access the law enforcement bands and do this?

Also, every once in awhile, someone mikes in and you can hear a baby grunting and cooing.

I had started to wonder if one of our fearless cops is gettin' busy in the front seat of his car, and his knee is accidently hitting the mike. The music and the, ummm, human sounds lead me to this conclusion.

This has been happening DAILY for the past week. Anyone want to wager a guess at how this is happening?

1. Cop is too cheap to buy a wireless baby monitor
The baby grunting, maybe a cop is too cheap to buy a baby monitor, and just has his police CB in junior's crib?
:)

3. Overlapping frequencies?
You could be picking up more than the police/emergency feed.

4. But why is it always the same song and the same sounds.
I live on 40 acres alone. No neighbors for almost a mile.
