Pink Floyd Fans: THEY ARE ON NOW est
Edited on Sat Jul-09-05 01:01 PM by LynneSin
According to MTV, Floyd show will be shown in it's entire set on both VH1 and MTV (VH1 is 10-3EST, MTV is 3-8EST).

Right now The Who is on, I would suspect that Pink Floyd will be coming on soon after them since there set was a good 30 minutes.

This is from VH1's website and I've been watching since Dave Matthews - they've pretty much gone in the same exact order:

The complete VH1 broadcast will include performances by: Paul McCartney & U2, U2, Coldplay, Bon Jovi, Elton John, Will Smith, Annie Lennox, Keane, Dave Matthews Band, Orchestra Baobab, Madonna, Maroon 5, Joss Stone, Velvet Revolver, Sting, Rob Thomas, Mariah Carey, Robbie Williams, the Who, Pink Floyd, Stevie Wonder and Paul McCartney.

Edited on Sat Jul-09-05 01:16 PM by LynneSin
But it wasn't exactly something folks wanted to look at. I was crying during that whole video. Makes me sad that there are those that have way too much and way too many that have none.

Ironically when ABC showed that click they censored the breast

Pink Floyd brought so much attention to this effort by doing what they did, I think they were the main draw. They Rock and always have.

28. There is still bad blood between then but the felt this was more important
I think Gilmour said he's donating all the profits from increased record sales from the appearance to African Charities.

I just so wish they would just put the bad blood aside and do one last stadium tour. Hell, just do something like what Cream did where they do one last concert together. Then put together a DVD from that concert and rake in the cash (or make a hefty donation to charity of choice).

I'm thinking this is probably the last time we'll ever see all of Pink Floyd together (unless they get Syd Barrett out of retirement and let him fill in for Waters)

I have loved them almost forever, but I never really
digged into the rift between them, what was it that
caused them to split?

Was it Rogers radio waves? just kidding.....hahah

Its almost like Genesis, One of my other favorites
I love Peter Gabriel, but I also love Phil Collins
and now Phil has left

34. I think their problems started during "The Wall"
A lot of the guitar work on there isn't David. I think Write quit during that time and if I remember correctly, Roger was being a real studio nazi at the time. Then it built up after that to where they tried suing each other over the name "Pink Floyd". I have to try to remember what all happened. I followed a lot of it back then, but it's been so long.

David is one of the best, if not the best guitarist out there

I want to see one more tour of them, they would sell out in seconds
in the US, maybe have 2 concerts in 3days in each US city they
tour, then everyone could see them

each album. Click on Trivia and Quotes. I started at the first album and went all thru, but the real break down starts arount the time of The Wall. Seemed to me that Roger Waters filled the leadership void left by Sid, but then felt over worked, and developed an enormous ego.

It is a concert they did alone in the ruins of Pompeii. I have it around here somewhere, I haven't watched it in a while. Anyway...they have footage of them recording Dark Side of the Moon in the studio. It's very cool.

43. I saw it way back in High School at my brother's party
He had a bunch of friends over and they got a copy of "Live at Pompeii" and even rented a VHS so we could watch it. I was amazed because although a Pink Floyd fan I thought there was nothing before Dark Side of the Moon.

This showed just how amazing they were before they hit mega-stardom

44. Yeah, it's great stuff
I have to find it and transfer it to DVD.
I started getting into Floyd when I was about 13 or so. I was given some albums and some of them were with the Barret stuff. I was a bit of a freak back then and loved that stuff, but I also loved the later stuff.
I have all of it now and also a few videos. Syd's music was an early influence on my early songs that I wrote. I still put a bit of his psychedelia in some of my songs.

23. VH1 and MTV are showing it in it's entirety
No Commericials, No voice overs. They just go from one set to the next. Right now the VH1 set is finishing up (EST). They went from 10-3 and then MTV does a show (no commericials/commentary) from 3-8. Pink Floyd is one of the bands being shown in BOTH sets. They are scheduled to be next to last on the MTV set so tune in sometime around 7pm

MTV has their set right before the McCartney finale. So I'm guessing 7pm would be a safe time to turn on the TV set and not miss it.

I'm still watching but Green Day is up 4th or 5th (I have to suffer through Destiny's Child)
