Holmes Says She, Cruise Will 'Always Be' In 'Honeymoon Phase'

UPDATED: 3:44 pm EDT July 8, 2005

NEW YORK -- Katie Holmes has tried on a wedding dress. But it's not the one she'll wear to her wedding to Tom Cruise, but a designer dress for a photo shoot in W magazine.

She told the magazine that she and Cruise will always be in their "honeymoon phase."

But when she was asked to describe her love, Holmes went blank -- the woman described as her "Scientologist chaperone" jumped in to tell Holmes to say "you adore him."

Holmes said she's taking Scientology classes to learn to "celebrate" her spirit.

1. She's a big girl.
She doesn't have to do anything she doesn't want to. I'm just saying...

2. Right on.
As adults, we get to own both our successes and our errors. I'm not going to be judgmental here.

4. Agreed...this post wasn't as much about her as...
...it was about the chaperon.

But even then, yes...she's a big girl...and if she wants a chaperon or "helper" or whatever the woman is being called, she's got one of her own free will.

:toast:

5. LOL. Sometimes I wish I had a 'helper'.
I'd make them do all the dirty work. :D (just kidding!)

9. Ah the delusion of NRE
New Relationship Energy - the glue that helps couples get through the rough times after said energy dissipates.

15. When you consider how long the 'marriage' will last...
I think it should be relatively easy.

6. I know two women who might be
able to give her some real insight into what being married to Tom Cruise will be like. Their names are Nicole Kidman and Mimi Rogers. Both of them probably thought the "honeymoon phase" was going to last forever, too. Ms. Kidman, in particular, if she's inclined to do so, could probably save poor Katie from becoming the next ex-Mrs. Cruise.

7. Honeymoon phase is a domestic violence term
used to refer to the time often following a violent incident when the perpetrator becomes very apologetic and sends flowers, that it will never happen again, s/he's so sorry, etc. Using that term to describe a relationship isn't really a good thing, yk?

8. Wow.
It's one thing to trash the relationship and make fun of the two, but for you to insinuate he's a beater - that's just wrong.

11. I didn't insinuate anything. I don't believe that he is an abuser. I was
pointing out that it was an unfortunate term to use given it's connotations.

12. But since you didn't say that in your original post,
you certainly led one to believe that's what you were accusing him of. I don't care what the two of them do in their lives, but if you go around making accusations (or not clarifying that type of statements), it generalizes the seriousness of that type of behavior.

14. Oh, come on
The word "honeymoon" has nothing to do with domestic violence, and the phrase "honeymoon phase" pre-existed our era's interest in the rights of spouses.

10. Holy Crap!
Katie...Let me let you in on a little secret. Tom is a cult member, and he is as gay as a pink parasol in Liberace's closet. Nothing wrong with the gay part, but at least don't allow yourself to be brainwashed by people who fucking worship aliens. He should just come out of the freaking closet.

I want to make bumper stickers that say "Honk if you hate Tom Cruise". I am sure the response would be overwhelming to the driver who has it on the car.

On another note, here is a magazine of Tommy a few years back. I swear this is real.
