how much people like to bad-mouth attorneys? I mean seriously...attorneys get accused of every base thing under the Sun. To some people attorneys are the root of all evil...the cause of all sin. Yet it's always been my experience that the people who most vociferously bad-mouth attorneys are the most likely to be simpering, whining little maggots when they find themselves in trouble caused by their own stupidity, and need a sharp lawyer to bail their butts out.

i really don't hate lawyers. I really don't know why.

However, I find it ironic that as soon as a rich guy gets in trouble, they are the one to depend on the lawyer.

They go where the money is, rich people, but as an artist so do I. If you work for a living you go where someone will pay you. We have lawyers in the small town I live next to and they make a fair living but they sure are not getting rich in a small city in Maine. They are just people with that type of education.

Seriously, lawyers and judges deserve the bad reputation we have. The system just sucks and blows. Unfortunately, there isn't a better one, and all the rest are a lot worse.

11. As a lawyer, what I find dismaying is the mindset of practicing law as

just another business. It isn't. It requires dedication to the clients, imagination, and tenacity. I have yet to see within my brethen a regular representation of those qualities.

When I handle small cases, like speeding tickets, I treat the situation as if it were very important like a felony because someone is depending on me to protect their rights. If I don't do my best, there's a chance the court will convict, give points to their license and their insurance goes up, not to mention the client KNOWS you haven't tried. I advocate my clients take a drivers safety class no matter how the verdict goes or what kind of a deal I can get for them, just in case they could have eased up on the pedal.

I also represent clients routinely who either can't afford the full cost or can't pay at all. Not because I'm mandated by the state but because it's fair. I don't even pursue barter. Too many people end up pleading guilty because it's far more expensive to hire a lawyer for a traffic violation than it is to take the fine and the insurance boost. Or better - with a little research, ticket recipients have the right and the ability to defend themselves in court, sometimes as well as an attorney, if not better.

15. It's IMPOSSIBLE to find a decent attorney. Face it, they're in the

business for MONEY. They're motivated by, essentially, greed.

The idiot I had on my auto accident completely botched up my case. Now, thanks to his lack of work, I'm out over 20,000. AND I GOT REAR ENDED.

Think about how bad the lawyer has to be to lose a case about being rear ended.

18. I work with attorneys every day

I like about half of them. The other half need to get a seat on the next deep space sattelite being launched. There are good people and bad people in this line of work.
