What, if anything, could drive you to violence?
Mild-mannered me amazed myself yesterday, as I was prepared to go toe-to-toe with something of a Hun, in the service of protecting the 17-year-old.

I have no doubt had he continued threatening her, I would have bludgeoned him with the 5-C-cell flashlight I was brandishing. A fact as clear to him as to me.

Anyone else, normally a talker/runner, ever been there?

1. I have no tolerance when it comes to bullies.
They are the biggest type of cowards.

and katy-bar-the-door! (I know, my boys are 19 and bigger than me, but hey....they're still my babies!!)

3. Yep...
If it involved possible harm to my children or someone else's, it'd be on like Donkey Kong.

4. If someone did something to my daughter or my nieces
that would drive me to do something very bad that would no doubt put me behind bars.

5. Yep, I once restrained myself

from throwing a man off a 3rd floor balcony.

I was so full of rage standing there watching him yell at me, verbally attacking me (for what would be the very last. time. ever.) that I suddenly become very certain of just how easy it would be for me to throw him off the balcony.

He had a good 50 lbs and about 10 inches on me too. I was filled with very pleasant thoughts about seeing his twisted body lying on the ground.

edit: Welcome to the edge, Robb. Only a priviledged few people get to experience that for themselves.

7. Protecting my child...hell, protecting ANY child for that matter.
Then, of course, there's self-defense as well. Fortunately the odds of me being in a situation where I have to use violence to protect myself or others is very very slim.

10. Mess with my mom, and it's on.
My dad can still handle himself in his 60s. Heck, it might be better for any potential fiend for ME to get a hold of him rather than my mom. She's small, but she is fiesty.

That said, if you were messing with a friend of mine physically, I might have to get involved as well.

That said, I have never been in a physical confrontation with another human.

13. I still felt rather 5-11...
I don't remember feeling powerful. Just really, really motivated. And wholly unconcerned about my well-being, repercussions, all that.

'Markable. Not even the product of my DNA, but there I am at bat. :)

12. Yes. I've been physical with an ex who pushed me to the limit. BAAAD
situation. Self preservation was what it felt like. Righteous indignation mixed with anger and a steely determination to survive his attacks. It surprised me but also made me realize I am not above that level of human emotion. I think I could kick somebody's ass if I had too. And it wouldn't hurt. I learned that too. I was numb to pain and strangely calm and focused when this event occurred. The only other person I ever hit was my oldest sister. She said the "n" word for the very last time in front of me. She's 12 yrs my senior. I'm 42 now. This happened about 15 yrs ago. I just got up, walked across the room and slapped her in the mouth. My mother should have been the one to do it.
I'm happy for anyone who has never been pushed to this limit. But it IS a dangerous world and we need to know we can stand up for ourselves and others if we have to.I'm not proud of it. But I am wiser.:evilfrown:

14. Once... when someone made fun of my religion.
I was just sitting at the lunch table when some total freeptards started making fun of my religion (Buddhism) and I set down my tray, grabbed my slushie, and dumped it on the leaders lap. It was pretty freakin' cold, too. He started crying like a baby and I just simply muttered 'Idiot' and walked away.

Never told my Mom that for fear of getting in trouble.

16. Depends on the scenario... I prefer to live by Shakespeare...
"The Merchant of Venice", from the lips of Shylock... "...if you wrong us, shall we not revenge?"

Also consider "If we are like you in the rest, we will resemble you in that." That's how people seem to be.

Washington would not be proud.
