Coldplay isn't doing anything that Simple Minds wasn't doing .....

....20 someodd years ago. The big atmospheric sound, the jingly-jangly guitar, the pretentious lyrics delivered with a breathy howl. It all seems terribly familiar.

2. Wrong. They are sucking more than any other U2 cover band.

At least U2 blows on their own merit. Why didn't coldplay cover another band like Creed or Linkin Park?

...song on the radio. It was one of those "mix" stations. They played a Simple Minds song immediately afterward and I was just dumbstruck by the similarities. That's when it hit me. Coldplay isn't a bad U2 ripoff, they're a bad Simple Minds ripoff.
