Does anyone talk to their cats with their eyes?
My daughter was doing this the other day and so I tried it. Slow blinking.

The cat came over to where I was - that's unusual for her - she is a very aloof cat - and so I was wondering what I said to her?

On edit:

That's probably why she was mad when I didn't have it!

2. I must do a "Come hither" thing with my eyes.
I can look at my cats and think, "Come on over." Damned if they don't. Very advanced beings, cats.

3. Yes.
If I stare at my cat, he will become agressive and/or overly playful (grabbing and biting). If you squint your eyes, that means "all's well."

4. One slow blink: "I have a stinky halibut carcass under my arm."
Two slow blinks: "I can reverse a spaying."

Three slow blinks: "I'll make all your enemies die for their transgressions AND give you an entire dead cow if you just come over here."

6. My dog and I use a lot of eye comunication,

even though we don't always see eye to eye on where she ought to be. ;-)

Seriously, when she's chilling out in the house. she watches me a lot and if I return her gaze more than briefly, she comes over for pets. She's normally a bit aloof (or too busy investigating the world with her nose) and this is not something she normally does. If I gaze into her eyes, she wants to sit in my lap; poor thing doesn't realize she's way too big to be a lap dog. Of course, I give her plenty of pets and affectionate talk whenever possible 'cause she's a great dog.

10. I talk to my dog with my eyes.
If I'm mad, I give her a mad look and she knows what's up.

11. I read about this before...
To a cat, looking directly at her eyes with fully open eyes is a sign of aggression. Now, it can be playful aggression, but still aggression. When your cat looks at you with half open eyes, it is a sign of general contentment. When a cat looks at you and slowly blinks it's half-open eyes, that is a sign of affection for you.

Don't ask me how they determined all this!LOL! But yes, ever since I read that, I do talk to my kitty with my eyes!:-)
