2. Bucky Katt
is probably the best character in any strip since Bloom County

6. He does have a way about him... Doesn't he?
It's been a long time since I've laughed-out-loud reading
the Sunday funnies.

3. It is damn funny
Between it, Pearls Before Swine, Boondocks, and Tank McNamara I actually think comics are getting good again.

13. I agree....
My worldview was shaped in so many ways by Bloom County. There'll never be another strip like it.

12. Ah, Berke Breathed is a pussy these days.
No offense meant to women by that gender-specific putdown, but it's true. Breathed used to be the most incisive artist alive back in the 80's. Now he's too self-concious, too afraid to piss off either side too much. "Opus" is total milquetoast compared to "Bloom County."

IMO.

14. I don't know why he stopped Bloom County
it was far superior to Outland or Opus---he kept drawing cartoons with much the same characters---why he had to stop Bloom County, I don't know.

10. I like "Boondocks" better...and have to give a sentimental
shout out to "Mutts." Sue me for being a total load, but I think the dogs in that strip are really cute.

And is it me, or is Doonesbury been experiencing a bit of a renaissance the last couple years? I guess with so much material to work with, Trudeau can't help but hit his marks more often.

"Get Fuzzy" gives me a chuckle sometimes, though.

18. I love "Mutts"
the "Shelter Stories" series he does every year makes me cry.

Doonesbury has seemed pretty good the past few years - I like the whole Deaniac series he did....

17. Freefall.
Throws in some subtle and not-so-subtle digs at our society now and then.

I mean, how can you go wrong, with a corrupt but lovable alien, clueless robot, and genetically engineered wolf? :-)
