I was driving up to College Station with my pops to watch the football game. It should be noted that Texas A&M is basically the conservative hotbed of Texas (made up mainly of third-generation Texans or lesser). Anyway, I am a billionth-generation Texan, or some such thing. My mom's ancestors came from France to Galveston when this was Spain, and my dad's came here right before the Civil War from Virginia. I swear this story has a point. So the drive is usually a monotony of Lexus's and SUV's from Austin and San Antonio, but this morning as we were driving through Bastrop we got behind a white suburban with the following three bumper stickers on it: a Texas Aggie sticker, a U.S. Marine Corps sticker, and most impressively, a "Texas Democrat" sticker. I intentionally followed it for about five miles in the futile hope that my dad would see it, but he pretended to be asleep. He used to be a Libertarian but is now a Bushite. I would prefer true Republicanism as opposed to what he's become. Anyway, this certain car gave me hope. And to make it better, on the way home from the game, we were stuck behind a minivan for several miles with a bumpersticker that read "DEAN" in huge letters for several miles in the same town. I don't think that FOX News prepared him for seeing so many librul's in the supposed heart of GOP country today. If only I can chip him down over the next year or so into voting for a Clark or an Edwards, my life's mission would seem fulfilled. Please share your thoughts.
