RANT(kind of) Got my hair cut today....freaked out some
I went to a new place (my barber was out sick today)to get a hair cut. I got this younger girl to cut my hair (18 or so)She started asking me questions like "Are you married?" "Do you have any kids?" When strangers ask me questions like this, I feel uneasy (don't know why), so I just replied with a bunch of no's. Then she asked if I planned on finding someone to spend my life with. At this point, I got pretty aggravated, but did my best not to show it. This is ALWAYS happening to me, by the way...people asking me personal questions or they just seem a bit too eager to get to know me. I even have people approach me swearing that they know me from somewhere, and I'm certain I have never met them. I get this almost every day, and it's starting to bug me. At any rate, my hair looks like shit because rather than cutting it the way I told her to, this girl did a lawnmower job on me because she was too caught up in her questions. DAMNIT! The weirdest shit happens to me, I swear.

1. Well that's what you get for getting a hair cut.
I never understood why anyone would do such a thing to themselves.

5. I don't believe you really needed it.
So it's not OK. By the way, are you married? Have a girlfriend? Like to Tango with dwarves in the moonlight? Wear fishnet stockings?

6. Hairdressers seem to do this
Edited on Sat Jun-25-05 04:55 PM by Nikia
I think that in some places, it is common for women to tell their hairdresser everything for whatever reason. Perhaps, it was common at this shop. I think that it happens more when customers tend to come back to the same place over and over again.
Edit: I just noticed that you are male. Maybe, some men tell their hairdressers everything too.

7. I took this for small talk at first, but what you said makes sense
I never thought of it that way...and since it was my first time there, maybe she was anxious to have another customer (although I wouldn't trade my barber for anything, he rocks)B-)

13. Always Happens to Me
There are two women and one man at the barber shop that I go to. Usually I just get the first person to become available. The guy makes VERY brief small talk, but the women, particularly one of them, seem to ask a lot of questions and also talk about themselves a lot.

11. This is precisely why I stopped getting my hair cut 5 years ago
OK. You're right. That's a lie. But I did stop having my hair cut 5 years ago.

Seriously, this has always freaked me out too. However, my friends see nothing wrong with it so I just assume I'm generally antisocial.

12. Just put some gel in it & spike it up
Sometimes lawnmower jobs can look cool. Myself I go for a crewcut, number 4 on the shaver, which is about as long as you can have it and still be a crewcut.

18. I think that might have the opposite effect -
most people would want to AVOID small talk (might be worth it then!)

16. i kind of understand but
when i go to a hairdresser, i actually like to talk small talk. i prefer someone to ask me stuff. woohoo i get to talk about lil ol me! but if you arent comfortable with that, i can understand why she would get on your nerves. "I" would probably get on your nerves if I did hair for a living, because Id probably be a lot like her.
just a chatty kathy!
