1. The Beatles
Although if you had The Eagles on that list, I'd be tempted to vote for them.

Beatles, Stones, Zeppelin, Cream, Hendrix, Moody Blues, Doors, Traffic, Who, CCR, The Band, Buffalo Springfield, Blind Faith, Joplin, Airplane, The Dead ... these still play on and on.

9. Bingo. Too numerous. If one is named, it is an injustice to others...

...who were/are just as good. And many could be added to that list like Steppenwolf, Moody Blues, The Allman Brothers Band, and on and on and on...

22. No doubt. I saw John Kay give a lecture here in town a couple of years..
...ago at Vanderbilt - he lives here in Nashville - and it was a total smackdown of Bushco. It was hosted by John Seigenthaler. Great lecture.

blood sweat and tears?

you made me so very happy...i'm so glad you came into to my world!

lost at love before
Got mad and closed the door
But you said "Try, just once more"

I chose you for the one
Now we're having so much fun
You treated me so kind
I'm about to lose my mind
You made me so very happy
I'm so glad you came into my life

The others were untrue
But when it came to loving you
I'd spend my whole life with you

'Cause you came and you took control
You touched my very soul
You always showed me that
Loving you is where it's at
You made me so very happy
I'm so glad you came into my life
Thank you, babe
Yeah, yeah

I love you so much you see
You're even in my dreams
I can hear you
I can hear you callin' me
I'm so in love with you
All I ever want to do is
Thank you babe, thank you babe

You made me so very happy
I'm so glad you came into my life
You made me so very happy
You made me so so, so very happy, babe
I'm so glad you came
Into my life

I want to thank you, girl
Every day of my life
I want to thank you
You made me so very happy...

31. I'm frankly very surprised that the Stones aren't getting more votes.
I've gone back and forth between Zep and the Beatles myself, but what I always found was that the Stones had this unbelievable sense of feeling, funk, and style that one just couldn't find anywhere else.

I think they were the best. Just MHO of course.

the Stones are starting to pull in some more votes here. Everybody always says the Beatles were so innovative (and they were), but the Stones did a lot of really interesting things musically, particularly in the Brian Jones days.

37. Well, if you have an obsession for the Who,
have you every listened to "Tommy?" I mean the whole Rock Opera. Back in the days of vinyl, it was 4 LPs. It is really very good.

I'm not much of a Who fan, but I do dig "Tommy."

45. To the Led Zepplin fans out there
I was driving this evening and the radio had a segment called "Get the Led Out" where they play 3 Led Zepplin songs in a row. They do this every night. For the last 20 years.

Anyway, don't you get sick of their songs? I was a fan of "Rock and Roll" when I was 13. But I was 13. I have an excuse.

I like lots of dumb bands. But, please, at long last, can't we decide, as a nation, to not play Led Zepplin for 16 months? I'm sure your mullets will grow just as long, and your Camaros will go just as fast if L.Z. goes silent for a while.

48. Let's count Zep's great albums.
I, II, III, Zoso, Houses of the Holy, and Physical Graffiti. That's six albums with tons of excellent songs.

Plus, they have Presence and In Through the Out Door, both with a few great songs on them.

Zep has like 50 great songs. They will never stop being played. The radio just needs to spread them out.
