Major sleep deprivation
Went to bed at 1:00am woke up at 5:00am. Drove from NoVa to Richmond and back already today. I don't want to go to bed because then I will just wake up at 9:00pm all out of whack. But four hours of sleep just doesn't seem like it will cut it. Getting that Mr Potato-head, stuffy, hot under the collar, wavy line feeling and I'm just in a general funk. What should I do? Before you say go to bed, I'm starting to realize that sleep deprivation can be a cheap source of mind alteration and I'm not planning on using any heavy machinery anytime soon anyway.

2. Ok, I'm very familiar with this due to my work schedule
Here are my tips -

1. Drink lots of water. You're dehydrated.

2. Eat something light and easily digestible.

3. Take it easy. If you don't want to go to sleep, just relax. Go for a quiet walk, read a magazine, something.

4. Go to bed at an early but "normal" hour - say 9:30 or 10:00 pm. Sleep well and get up at your normal time tomorrow morning.

You may feel "off" for a day or two but you'll be fine in no time!

5. That is some damn good advice.
:applause: I probably am dehydrated, because it seems that I constantly walk around in a state of dehydration. I know I don't drink enough water. I would love to go catch up on some reading but that will put me right out. Seriously, that is some good advice.

4. The solstice has got me all fouled up,
I've been sleeping like that all week, I would suggest a cold beer and play/listen to some music or, fix/clean something thats been broke/dirty for a while.

6. I just spent the night in an airport a couple days ago.
becuase of all the t'storms in the midwest, my fights were delayed enough to miss the connections.

Anyone ever (not) slept in an airport before?

:grr:

7. you want a list of the airports?
that I haven't slept in?

some are fun, some not so fun. Kansas City? not so fun. Narita? more fun. McCarron? lots of noise. Kennedy? too damn crowded, uncomfortable carpeting. the mall under Zurich? knobby floors and loud cleaning crews.

oh the lists I could make...

8. I always find ice cream helps.
Actually it helps most anything. You drove from NoVa to Richmond and back already today - sheesh, that's enough to jangle anybody's last nerve, sleep or no sleep!!

10. Plan your next sleep-time, and work till then.
heart's out to ya - I am home today before 4 o'clock for the first time in 6 weeks - doing too much OT /wknd work. I just caught myself a break and am taking tomorrow off as well. got a haircut an' everything - been working so long, it feels different. nothing mind altering when I was sleep deprived, but dreams were wierd, and I could/can barely remember what day it was.
