I am me again!
Edited on Thu Jun-16-05 06:33 PM by SarahBelle
Me! :bounce:
Me! :bounce:
Me! :bounce:

I have wanted to be me again for a very long time. Legally, I've been me again since the divorce was final last month, but today I had all the paperwork in order to go to DMV and get my lovely driver's license with MY BIRTH NAME on it again! I have MY car registered in MY name only and will get MY title in the mail. Tomorrow, it's bank, social security office, and calling the credit card companies (oh and life insurance too). Monday, I take care of the paperwork at work. Even the cranky old DMV lady said she's never seen anyone so excited before.

It's... it's... AWESOME! ;)

I'm me. Go me. Oh yeah! I'm me. And my last name is so much cooler too. :bounce:

41. I Gotta Be Me
Whether I'm right or whether I'm wrong
Whether I find a place in this world or never belong
I gotta be me, I've gotta be me
What else can I be but what I am

I want to live, not merely survive
And I won't give up this dream
Of life that keeps me alive
I gotta be me, I gotta be me
The dream that I see makes me what I am

That far-away prize, a world of success
Is waiting for me if I heed the call
I won't settle down, won't settle for less
As long as there's a chance that I can have it all

I'll go it alone, that's how it must be
I can't be right for somebody else
If I'm not right for me
I gotta be free, I've gotta be free
Daring to try, to do it or die
I've gotta be me

I'll go it alone, that's how it must be
I can't be right for somebody else
If I'm not right for me
I gotta be free, I just gotta be free
Daring to try, to do it or die
I gotta be me

Sammy, baby!

You remind me a lot of me when I was young. Very free-spirited and comfortable with myself. I lost that for awhile. I'm just finding all that again.
You're a good soul, sweetie. :)

6. Congrats!!!!
I've never understood why women have to give up their name to be married. Congrats again - I remember how great it felt to have MY name back over 20 years ago! With this marriage I kept it and did the hyphenate thing - not perfect but at least I get to be part me!

9. One of the first big red flags...
I wanted to hyphenate and he was "offended", so I dropped it. I was 19 and a big wuss. No more. :bounce:

If I ever did it again, I'd hyphenate for sure (If I changed anything). If he didn't like it, buh bye!

65. Heh.
My mom gave me that when I told her my intention of never changing my name again, even if I get married 10 more times (which I won't).

"But what if you have kids? How will they register in school if their parents have different last names? What about birth announcements in the newspaper? Do you want people to assume your children were born to unmarried parents?"

:eyes:

Good luck, Sarah!
