Saw the Dixie Chicks last night..

Awesome show. It was actually better than I expected.

The show began with 'Born in the USA' by Springsteen blaring over the speakers.... the Chicks then came out to thunderous applause and didn't stop for a couple hours.

The song 'Traveling Soldier' was very touching. Natalie was obviously moved by that song especially now with so many of our troops dying lately. There were quite a few people around me with tears in their eyes.

She did mention the 'incident' 4 months ago. The crowd was great and ended up in a rousing round of applause. Natalie then said that when they put this song on their latest CD they didn't realize how meaningful it would end up becoming to them. Here is part of 'The Truth 2":

You don't like the sound of the truth
Comin' from my mouth
You say that I lack the proof
Well baby that might be so
I might get to the end of my line
Find out everyone was lying
I don't think that I'm afraid anymore
Say that I would rather die trying

They sung this song while playing a documentary type video showing protests from the 60s on. The last scene of the video said: SEEK THE TRUTH!

IT WAS AWESOME!!!!!!! I love the guts and passion of these women and Thank God they are not afraid to speak the TRUTH.

3. I'm glad they're still being themselves.
Dolly Parton was *keeping the peace* and backpedling and apologizing all over the place for them on what's his face's show awhile back.
She missed her chance to stand for something besides her own shadow.

7. Dolly Parton???
I didn't hear about that. What an idiot... Who is she to assume she can say anything for them? They certainly don't feel they need to apologize for their beliefs.

urgh

4. wow
I got goosebumps just reading your post about the concert. They didn't have to say a word--everybody knows.

Who the hell is Dolly Parton to apologize for the Dixie Chicks?!!

9. Goosebumps.. I got those when Born in the USA played..
That was one powerful statement to use that song. They definitely believe in their country for the RIGHT reasons.

6. I am SO ENVIOUS! Liked them before, now LOVE them!
I am amazed by the breadth and depth of their compassiona and their courage, esp, of course, Natalie. She saw a billboard that said, "Natalie should eat Earl's peas" and actually thought it was funny and clever! I feel that shows how great her spirit is.

Like I said above, liked them before, now a passionate fan. Bought my first Chicks CD not long after the stuff started, plan to own all of them!

11. Saw them in LA this weekend - ***
We had 5th row seats! The crowd around us was a blast. It was awesome. Of course Ive been listening to the Dixie Chicks for the past two days.

It was amazing to see the Staples Center packed to the gills! Fleetwood Mac apparently couldn't even fill it. Just shows the amount of support these ladies have gotten. Very inspiring!

Wow... I'm so jealous!!!

I was way up on top... But still loved it.

The stage was very interesting.. Did you notice the footprints being lit up on the stage at the end of the Traveling Soldier song?

VERY POWERFUL image there.. .I'm not sure if you could see that being on the floor.

12. God bless the Dixie Chicks.
This is what patriots look like. It's really neat that the strongest voice of dissent against the Texas cabal comes from a group of women called the Dixie Chicks. We are so proud of you and Thank you with all of our heart for the courage that you have shown. Never give up, die trying if you have to.

I'm going to go out and by that CD today.
