Study Says Diet Soda Doesn't Keep People Skinny - BREAKING
:eyes:

<snip>

SAN ANTONIO -- People who think sipping diet soft drinks will help keep their waistlines svelte could be taking the wrong approach in controlling their weight, according to the long-term San Antonio Heart Study.

Researchers at the University of Texas Health Science Center in San Antonio analyzed patient information spanning 26 years. They found that those who drink diet sodas were more likely to become overweight. The risk of being overweight or obese increased 65 percent more with each diet drink per day.

The study's researchers pointed out that their findings raise more questions and don't prove that drinking diet soft drinks leads people to gain weight.

However, they said anytime people drink sodas, they are missing out on healthier beverages.

The findings were presented Monday at a meeting of the American Diabetic Association in San Diego.

I'd give anything to be able to eat french fries again.

Speaking of which, it's time for my afternoon walk around the office complex.

8. No sense in depriving yourself.
A few fries in moderation won't kill ya. I hope.

14. LOL!
But, no, you can't. However, you can eat two all-you-can-eat salads with 8 tablespoons each of your favorite dressing! That's my philosophy, anyway. :hi:

9. I've had a theory about this...
It would be in their best interest to keep you fat so you still think you need the diet, right?? :tinfoilhat:

Me and a friend had a discussion about this the other day, I insisted that there's possibly a chemical in there that keeps you fat. He said "Oh really??, a chemical?..what chemical would that be??"..I said "I don't know..--looking at the label--..the 'phenylketonurics' maybe??" ;)

Anybody know what a phenylketonuric is and if it's possibly what's making my ass big? :+

11. phenyllketonuria is a metabolic disorder that is hereditary and
detectable at birth by a simple test. If the baby is PKU positive, dietary measures can be instituted immediately to arrest the disorder. Untreated it causes severe mental retardation.

If a person is PKU, they know it because it was diagnosed before they went home from the hospital, and the parents know it too.

Aspartame is deadly for PKU people. I don't know what it does, I just know if you are PKU you should never ever eat or drink it.

16. Why folks with PKU can't have aspartame...
Aspartame is two amino acids (protein building blocks) tied together. One of them is phenylalanine. PKU is caused by a missing enzyme that breaks down phenylalanine from food. Toxic metabolites fry the brain.

Now time for some more Diet Pepsi.

13. This just in: diet soda tastes gross
This report was brought to you by the center for reporting the exceedingly obvious. We now return you to your regularly scheduled thread about Jacko's $cientologist kittens. Coming up next at 8:00 PST, a thinly veiled sex thread followed by a flamewar about nothing.
