Woman Sues Stephen King Over 'Misery' Character
LOS ANGELES (Zap2it.com) - A woman who has hounded horror master Stephen King in the past is causing him more "Misery."

Anne Hiltner has sued the best-selling author, claiming that the sadistic female lead from the novel "Misery" is a caricature based on herself, reports Celebrity Justice.

"Misery" features nurse Annie Wilkes, who is the self-proclaimed No. 1 fan of author Paul Sheldon. She holds him captive, forcing him to write a romantic novel just for her. The 1990 film based on the novel won Kathy Bates an Oscar for her portrayal of Annie and provided one of cinema's most alarming scenes in which she "hobbles" Sheldon (James Caan).

7. Stephen King seems to attract wackaloons
For years a guy here in the Bay Area has claimed that Stephen King killed John Lennon. The core of this seems to be the slight resemblance between Mark Chapman, the actual Lennon killer, and the younger Stephen King. The dude had a van plastered with signs and flyers about his theory and used to preach the word on the Berkeley campus.

Last I heard from him he'd broadened his focussed and gone full-bore into antisemitism.

8. That must be some sort of psychosis
An obsessed fan of Sarah McLachlan sued her, saying that the song "Possession" was based on stuff that he wrote her. He ended up killing himself before it went to trial.

Strange folk around. Would you want to say you were the basis for Kathy Bates' character in Misery???

She did do a great job of that role, though!

11. Anyone remember, didn't King run into some guy wandering IN HIS HOUSE
in Maine. I think the dude was non-violent, just decided to walk on in and have a look (I think its a really big, gothic place).
