Florida Man Bitten By Pet Mamba
<snip>

HOMESTEAD, Fla. -- A snake owner was treated with antivenin Wednesday after his poisonous green mamba bit his left hand, authorities said.

The man, whose name was not released, was treated at Homestead Hospital with an intravenous drip containing the antivenin, Miami-Dade Fire-Rescue Capt. Al Cruz said.

Cruz said the man would receive 15 to 30 vials of antivenin, and it would take time to determine whether he will make a full recovery.

"The hospital is considering this a serious situation," Cruz said.

Cruz said the man was bitten by his 5- to 6-foot snake at around 5 a.m. Wednesday and went to the hospital without calling 911.

The hospital contacted fire-rescue, which holds the serum for about 25 area medical facilities.

The bright-green snakes are native to Africa and are among the fastest and most poisonous snakes in the world, Cruz said. The poison attacks the central nervous system, and bite victims show symptoms such as difficulty swallowing, breathing and speaking.

5. what would the definition of exotic be?
i think it's ridiculous for any person to own a venemous reptile and keep it in their house but who would get to decide which pets are 'exotic' and which are not?

6. "fastest and most poisonous snakes in the world"
And I understand they have a mean temper. In other words all the ideal characteristics for a great pet!

9. One day, a woman was walking outside on a wintry day
When she heard a faint voice under the snow, "Help me."

When she brushed away the snow from a snowbank, she found a shivering snake freezing underneath.

"Save me, please. I don't want to die.", said the animal, much to the surprise of the woman.

Being a kind and compassionate woman who was fascinated by a talking snake, she decided that she had to save the reptile. She quickly bundled the poor creature in her scarf and brought it home. She started a fire in her fire place and left some water for the snake. Pretty soon the snake recovered and started to move.

This made the woman very happy, as the snake told her that she saved it from a frozen death. The snake said that it was still too cold, and since it was a cold blooded creature, it needed some help to warm up. The woman picked up the snake and held it close to her bosom.

Then it bit her.

The woman screamed, dropped the snake and said, "Why? Why did you bite me? Now I'm going to die!"

"I couldn't help it.", said the snake. "What's that got to do with anything", she replied.

The perplexed snake looked up and said, "Why everything, you stupid bitch. I'm a god damned snake. It's in my nature."
