Poll question: Songs that make you want to shoot out the car radio (Earworm warning)
Which is a lot like a Worst Song Ever poll, except for the two at the end just for DUers. Note to freeper disruptors, DUMB bloggers, etc.: it's not because we hate America; it's because this Nashville bilge is a blatantly cynical and disgustingly successful attempt to manipulate the less bright of the general public into supporting the people who REALLY hate America.

PS: As a matter of fact, I can spell Celine Dion. :)

1. "I Will Always Love You" - Whitney Houston
Or..."I Will Always...Love YOUUUUUUUUUUOOOOOOO"

God, I hate that song. It makes my ears bleed.

Miss Houston took a perfectly nice Dolly Parton song and made it unlistenable.

Whitney is way to melodramatic. She's got great pipes, but never learned how to work them. It's a shame she never took lessons from Barbra about how to belt out a song.

The others: Copacabana, Muskrat Love, etc. get a pass from me simply b/c they're out of heavy rotation (or not in it at all) on the stations I listen to.

and made me switch off HBO for roughly a year.

2. Well, it was a real hard
choice between the Bodyguard Theme (hate it, hate it, HATE IT!), and the Greenwood jingoistic wingnut tune, but God Bless the USA won out in the end because I'm so fucking sick of hearing it played over and over and over and over and over and over, and if you don't agree with every single word and loudly sing along, you're an anti-American commie who hates America!

BTW, I LOVE Barry Manilow, (he gives a helluva concert) and Copacabana is one of my favorites, SO THERE!

44. "Copacabana" is a hoot!"
Always hated Barry Manilow, but I was in a dance club (First Avenue in Minneapolis) a few years back. They tend to be outrageous with their mixes (like mixing in Judas Priest with loud techno) and on came "Copacabana". That dance floor was packed!

5. For me, it's now "Conga" by Miami Sound Machine.
It came on when we were flipping channels in the car. Sitting at a stoplight, we noticed the guy on the other side of the street was obviously listening to the same station, because he was bopping his head in rhythm. Getting real into it, too.

Every time that song comes on now, though, that's all I can think of.

8. Lee Greenewood twice a day for two straight years
When I was in the Army (90-93) they played that song every morning and afternoon. We had to stand at parade rest for it. Eventually they stopped doing that but we pretty much had to stand there and just sort of stand there until it was over.

9. Lee Greenwood, hands down
As a "band dork" in HS, we played this damn song once for some tv special. Now, every time I'm with my dad and we hear it, he says, "there's your song!" (You know, after 15+ years, you'd think he'd get over that. And to hear him, you'd think that's the only fricken' song we ever played.)

I would rather listen to a 10 song Britney Spears/Christina Aguilara tribute with no commercial interuptions once a week for the rest of time, if someone could simply erase that piece of country ass trailer park jingoist rePuke SHITE from my memory and never play it again.

12. have you forgotten
That have you forgotten song had me in stitches. My bandmate called me up and said "you have to hear this song" I found it online and laughed my ass off. The lyrics are terrible...Talk about rushing a tune to cash in. I am no Dylan, but I do write songs, and I could have written that trash on acid and valium while in a coma.

The Angry American, maybe??? The one where he says,"we'll put a boot in your ass. It's the American way!" That one makes me wretch. Couldn't believe this song was played at my city's July 4th fireworks display! As the finale, no less!

Also, not to insult the Dixie Chicks, I usually like their stuff, but they should've left Landslide alone. Their version makes me cringe.

has gotta be the worst. The only worst song besides that is the origional version by Dolly.

My Heart Will Go On... sorry... I still puddle up every time I hear it... I had to be the only 35 year old guy sobbing like a 6 year old girl in a theater audience of 12-16 year old girls when Rose said... "Jack, there's a boat Jack"

And I'm not ashamed to admit it... I love Celine Dion dammit... Although in person, she has to be the dorkiest performer ever...

45. Anything with a Video on The Nashville Network!
With the one obvious exeption of the great Johnny Cash video. Come to think of it, the Dixie Chicks made a few pretty good songs into videos too. But 99% of the crap is the most stupid and bogus sh_t in the history of American popular music. Way worse than some obviously silly '70's hits, which were really allright in their place...which was never my record player.
