DU History Qestion: Who was the first non-admin DU poster and/or member?

tombstoned, i.e., not allowed here anymore, unless they make their case to get back in. It's fruitful to try not to be a jerk. That can be intimidating, but works real well for me.

There were many people posting in the beginning, though many were freepers, and many others have referred to the banner spotted in DC that first day. Actually, there were some pretty good serious in-depth political discussions by numerous people back then, once the freeps were ousted.

what was Ksiksa'a first post? :) Unless she was just the first registered member, then who and what was the first post? Nostalgia always interested me. Maybe someone should write something up on the first few posts, members, circumstances of DU. I would love to hear it. That would be awesome for us all. I'm a pretty new member here, but totally intrigued by the site. Peace. :)

There was a lot going on the first few days. Skinner and EarlG managed to get a huge banner with the address on MSNBC during the inaugural protest and it attracted hordes of disruptors, a lot of stuff was deleted.

Another question - when did you actually start requiring registration to post? I started posting on that first day - and smacking down the huge influx of freeper trolls - but no registration was required, and it wasn't for some time I think. When you required registration I didn't register right away because I was mainly reading everything with not much to contribute beyond "me too" posts -

I've often wondered what the time frame was between the "free for all" posting, and the "registration required". Thanks! :hi:
