Oy, what a day! Productive!
Busy busy busy...

The Prophetess and I went to 2 auctions today. Originally I went to see about jewelry-scrap gold from jewelry is an easy thing to turn around for fast cash. Well, there was a jewelry fanatic there who bid on everything, so that didn't work.

We figured the first auction would be a bust, and then they brought out silver tea/coffee services that we were looking at. The both of us figured they would go high, so we didn't have much faith. They auctioned off choice (there were 4)-and I got choice for $20! I really was figuring it would go for at least $50. The next ones were even cheaper, so I walked away with 3 complete silver services for $35.

Then the glassware started in, and I think people were auctioned out by then. We picked up 3-4 complete sets of crystalware, plus crystal serving trays, porcelain rice bowls, and nice glassware. I got 8 collectable steins too, and (one of the great hidden finds of the day) Star Trek and Star Wars Hallmark Christmas ornamants at $1 for both-collectors go nuts for those things. All this stuff was going for $1 a box. They were giving it away just to get it off their hands.

It took us half an hour to pack all the stuff. Then off to another auction where we got a locking trunk, several sets of pots and pans, and I snagged a .300 Savage rifle for half what it was worth.

It was a good day. I'm ready to Ebay most of this stuff, and as cheap as it was, it will pay for itself. Also, the money earned will help us pay for the wedding.

1. When's the big day?
And how much coin you figure you'll make on these finds?

I figure, if all goes well on Ebay, to turn over a few hundred on this stuff. Not enough to pay for the wedding, but it will knock out a chunk of the bill.
