Can you believe these two humans ever did the nasty?
He's a puke.
She's a lib.

They made out like an orange in a blender and whipped up a little gay chick. :D Sonny, I never knew you had it in you... (of course, out of every evil comes a greater good, so it must be karmic that your repukedom led to a homo offspring.)

Of course, if Sonny didn't believe the words he was singing then it makes sense he was bad at it...

8. Ummm...I'm no Cher fan, and I'm sure as hell not a Sonny Bono fan,
but he was very much the talented one in that pairing. He wrote the songs, had a hand in writing the gags on their show, and pretty much helped to make her the star she is today.

My God, did I just write a defense of Sonny Bono? I need to get some sleep.

14. !
You're kidding? He wrote "I got you, babe"?!?! :puke:

How come then that Sonny's solo show (1974) lasted 13 episodes (and wasn't good from the start) while Cher's (1975) managed to make it to 22 eps? (started well and was renewed, but the 2nd season started to trail off...)

It's all subjective. This thread, FWIW, has generated a lot of opinions and I've read them all with interest.

9. Sonny had musical talent.
He started his career as a producer, working with Sam Cooke and Little Richard, then moved on to become Phil Specter's protege during the Brill Building era.

He also wrote most of the songs Sonny & Cher performed.

29. I always thought the "Sonny has no talent" thing
was just a schtick to inject some humor into the show. Clearly he did have talent; but recognizing the fact would be like noticing the Emperor was naked.

11. Not to Cher.
Sonny's a repuke. All they do is hate and find ways to make new people to hate. I recall the day Wellstone died and that was harsh, how some people reacted... my God, it was horrible what some people would say about a human being that did nothing to kill anyone else. (Wellstone had his share of problems, but still... even I wouldn't wish on * what those repukes were saying about Wellstone...)

I'm just glad Sher didn't go skiing with him.

39. Many people consider those his finest.
Freak Out through Apostrophe and Overnight Sensation.
I love his live stuff, like Roxy and Elsewhere, or Bongo Fury, which features Captain Beefheart.
Finally, in the 80's, he started touring hard and hitting Reagan and the Religous Right directly. He testified before congress in the PMRC hearings over record labelling. And he seriously considered running for president. Then he got sick.
I still have my Zappa for President shirt.

http://frank-zappa-lyrics.wonderlyrics.com/Jesus-Thinks-You're-A-Jerk.html

There's an ugly little weasel 'bout three-foot nine
Face puffed up from cryin' 'n lyin'
'Cause her sweet little hubby's
Suckin' prong part time
(In the name of The Lord)

Get a clue, little shrew
Oh yeah, oh yeah
