This is the 'have some sympathy for a mod" post. Be nice.
So, last night, I had the cruds, got sick all night long until about 4:30 AM and then this morning, I notice that I apparently, in one of my races to the bathroom, have broken my foot. Right foot, so I can't drive myself to the doctor and I don't want to expose any of my friends to this, so I am just going to suffer until I feel well enough to get someone to take me to the doctor.

Okay, some sympathy is appreciated.

9. I can't expose any of my friends to this.
It is pretty shitty, so I am waiting until the cruds are gone. Not so bad, my kids are waiting on my hand and 'foot'...ha. had. so it could be worse.

14. it is not that difficult
to drive with your left foot, unless you have a clutch. Then again I am a lefty and my dad had to always pester me about using my left foot to hit the brakes - something he did all the time.

16. I could probably do it if I was sure the cruds were over.
My husband just shampooed the carpet in the van, and, well, you know. I don't want to take any chances. It took me three years to get him to do it.

Just kiddin with ya. I'm sorry that you are having a hard time. Why don't you use your left foot to drive? (That's what I did when I broke my right knee? It's not as difficult as it sounds.

I hope you can get to the doctor. :(

28. I thought about it, but if it is not life threatening, they charge you
like $500. Plus, if I go to the doctor, then my kids will stop waiting on me. This is better than childbirth. I am getting all the work done in the house while posting on DU.

29. you BROKE your foot?
Just from walking fast indoors?

I have every sympathy for you.

You really do need to get to the doctor. Please do call a friend as soon as possible. If you take simple precautions such as washing your hands thoroughly before getting into the friend's car, and perhaps wearing a dust mask over your mouth and nose, you should be able to avoid infecting your friend with whatever contagious thing you're suffering from. Actually, if you're having intestinal woes, it's likely from something you ate, and your friend is unlikely to get it just from sitting in the same car with you.

But you do need to have your foot seen to immediately. You must be in a lot of pain.

Also, bones should not break that easily. I really do recommend getting medical attention as soon as you can get someone to take you in to Urgent Care.

Call someone now!

31. I am planning to get someone to take me as soon as I stop
with the cruds. I don't know if I banged it or something in the dark, but it is pretty swollen and hard to walk on.

My little girl broke her arm when she was four from falling on the hardwood floor while playing with her sister, so stranger things have happened.

35. You poor thing!
Having broken my foot I know how much pain you're in! You do have ice on it and have it elevated, don't you? I couldn't imagine having the cruds at the same time.

You do need to get to a doctor as soon as possible. Until you can keep it iced for 20 minutes of every hour and wrap it in one of those ACE type bandages if you can to reduce the swelling. I couldn't afford the ER visit and that's what they told me to do until I could get in to the doctor the next Monday. DO NOT put any weight on it. I thought that one was silly since that's like the last thing you can do anyway. Take something for the pain as soon as you can keep it down.
