STILL having website issues
Edited on Wed Jun-01-05 01:21 PM by GreenPartyVoter
Finally got a new host.

FINALLY got a new domain, but I had to pay to change the domain name at the new host. (Still cheaper than the $160 the old place wanted.)

FINALLY got the frontpage extensions turned on and was able to publish.

BUT

The site (which was never all that wonderful, I admit. I am the world's worst web mistress) looks like crap. Why is the host doubling everything up like this??

*siiiiiiiiiiigh*

1. Don't see what your problem is. Nice idea though!

2. You don't see everything duplicated twice on the curvynovels
page? Hmm..

What browser are you using, cause I see it like that with both FireFox and Slimbrowser. :)

3. I can see it
Maybe you should just save what you make in Frontpage and then FTP them to your new host. I'm not really familiar with Frontpage extensions and all that stuff, but going the FTP route might work. Not really sure though.

5. Hubby is a pro tech geek and has promised to fix this for me. But I still
think it's a server end error because it looks fine on my end in my hard drive.

8. Probably a fuck-up when Frontpage uploads it
That's what I would guess anyway. Probably best to let your husband figure it out though, haha.

10. Yeah. He's gonna help me redesign the whole thing and make
cascading style sheets so all the fonts are the same size and color on the author pages. (I never knew they didn't match until I cut n paste some of the text out of a browser one day and put it somewhere else. That was a shocker, I can tell you.)

11. Haha
That actually reminds me, I need to get...umm...on...my ass...and redesign my website. Something I've been meaning to do for weeks now.

13. I've yet to design a decent site. If I was rich I'd pay someone to do it
and keep it up to date. I never wanted to be a webmistress but there's no one else to do it. :P

14. Haha, I've been doing it since i was 12
So I've gotten pretty good at it, I guess. At least, when I can come up with an idea of how it should look.

21. You're the reason I can't get a job as a web designer. When I was
12 TV was still black and white. It's almost impossible for someone from the main frame programming world over a certain age to compete with people who have been doing web stuff since the were 12. I never even heard about computer until I was in college. No one cared. We were into the Beatles!

9. Thanks. :^( Ah well.. this is still better than not having my site up at
all. But I will continue to curse my old host and domain registrar until I go to my grave. :P

23. Yeah. Weird thing is I have interfaced with the server and the code is
fine there. I can't for the life of me figure out where this doubling up thing is starting from. I can see it in the source code of the browser pages but not on the main pages in my hard drive or on the server.

Oh well, I am gonna tear it all apart and rebuild it with hubby's help.

22. Well, I talked hubby into helping me. He's going fix up a new
design that will look better until I bother to take the time to learn how to do up cascading style sheets. :P
