1. Reason #143 I had a vasectomy
I get nervous when I take my cat for a walk, even though she is on a leash and harness!

6. Besides, you can get your cat fixed!
Not the same with daughters--or sons.

11. Believe me... if I had a daughter (I know I'm being sexist here)
Edited on Wed Jun-01-05 11:08 AM by expatriot
By the time she reached the age of 12, I'd suddenly become a gun owner and I would prominently display the shotgon in a case that could be seen by any acne faced twirp that came to the front door. And I'd make him wait while she got ready in the front room while I dauntingly whittled a piece of pine with an oversized Bowie knife while menitoning the fact that the human penis cannot regenerate itself after it has been dismembered.

on edit: I would also change my position on homeschooling - or at least in the case of my daughter. I would even probably become an advocate for collegiate homeschooling.

3. Don't worry - Have confidence in yourself as a parent
That you armed her with all the skills she needs to make the right decisions.

Except you probably never warned her about Taco Flores on Aliso St....ughhhh I get nauseous just thinking about that place...

4. LA meaning the beach, Santa Monica, Venice, etc
or LA meaning Los Angeles (Pico & Hoover, USC-area, Hope Street)?

If is the prior, I wouldn't worry much.

13. They'll have a great time
Like lots of places, having locals to guide you makes all the difference. North Hollywood is fine.

7. Surely she won't do anything you would not have done!
Of course, that might be why you're afraid.

10. nah we've talked about the stupid things i did
at her age and she makes fun of me and tells me how retarded i was. I'm not worried about her making bad decisions just worried in general i guess. They are renting a car and I'm a bit nervous about that.

9. It's tough letting them go but she'll do fine.
I worried a lot, like you, with the first child,a girl, but when # 5 went out on his own I didn't even give it a thought.
