How old are your computers?
My Sony Vaio (ditched Dell because of their conservative idiocy) is almost brand new - bought a little over a month ago.

1. This one, about two years.
My husband's, about three months.

My daughter's, who knows. We've had the various pieces for a while, all rebuilt at some point or another. Five-ish years on the box, maybe three on the monitor.

They got a new machine, I got the scratch and dent version. This one is three years old. My other machine is five...which now belongs to my son.

8. Brand new! Bought it on Monday.
Old laptop and PC both several years old. Feels like driving a chevvy after ten years in a Model-T Ford.

9. No Idea
Mine's a prototype. It's insanely fast (1.25 GHz/512 DDR SDRAM), has a CD/DVD RW and I'm running Tiger, but I have no idea when this prototype was actually made.

14. iBook and dualie G4
My iBook is 5 months old. The dual processor G4 533 is pushing 4 but going great with a new hard drive and combo drive. I got the dualie used via eBay at half the going rate when the seller amazingly never mentioned the word dual in his header or item description. He just wrote DP and that obviously (and luckily for me) thwarted the eBayers who searched for the word dual.

15. Almost two months.
I have a Mac Mini. So far, so good (I actually managed to get a few ongoing issues with it fixed yesterday) and I'm very happy to be off the Windows roller-coaster. I'm even being a real dork now and using Firefox. :P

My monitor though is almost 11 years old. I need a new one, but that's where I decided not to splurge. :)

17. Four years old
When I bought it it was kick-ass ... P4, 1.6 GHz, 512k DDR ram, DVD drive, AGP graphics card ... but ever since I installed HL2 I became aware of its age.

But, since I have 2 toddlers (my money and my children go to daycare) I won't be getting a new machine anytime soon--unless this one craps out on me.

age from almost new to my antique IBM XT from 1984 (that still works just fine).

21. 2 years old.
I built it myself back in May 2003 and it still runs like a champ. It's still fairly fast in comparison to today's PC's, so that goes to show that you don't really need to upgrade that often.

27. The Mac at work here is one year old
One of the 3 PCs at home is 5 years old, a company discard. The second is 9 years old, the third is 12 years old (all are upgraded). We run Win98 at home and plan never to change unless forced to do so. Far fewer glitches, far fewer ways for Big Bro to secretly enter my puters at home.

29. I built the one I'm using now late in '04
What I really want to do is build a liquid-cooled laptop. But it'll take a while to save up for the components (and work up the courage to try).

If only people knew how easy it is to build a good desktop computer, companies like Dell would go out of business.

30. Could not agree with you more...
...Built my first Desktop and it took me less than 3 hours from the time I unpacked the MOBO until I was installing Suse (I took a few smoke breaks during the process). Plus, I spent less than $1,100.00 for a machine that Dell tried to sell me for $3,700.00.

33. Had a local computer shop build me a '98 tower
last August. It hums, sings, purrs. I love it.

My laptop is a creaky Toshiba Satellite I bought
in 1996. Old, old, keyboard nearly dead. I use
it to store all of my data files.

When I get my Linux wireless laptop, the Tosh is
going in sentimental storage.

34. The oldest computer I still have I built in 1979.
The CPU (a CMOS 1802) went bad a few years ago (mouse pee is very corrosive) but I have an emulator so I can still run all the software I wrote for it. It was the first software I ever go paid for.

My machine had a fantastic 1 kilobyte of memory and a cassette drive!

Here's the web site of another 1802 fan:
