What are you here for? What's your purpose? Your special skill?
I think I could have kicked ass as an actress or a director, but I never gave it a real, real shot. Too many obstacles now....my age, my kid, my weighing more than 100 pounds...I don't have a purpose other than that, except to be a good parent. But it's hard for me to watch award shows sometimes, it feels like some of those people stole my life!

I'm thinking I have to have other skills, right? But enough about me. Are you all totally fulfilled doing what you were 'meant' to do? Do you feel you weren't meant to do anything? Got nunchucking, bowhunting, computer hacking skills?

8. The butterfly effect and all that...
Um, maybe that's not the butterfly effect, maybe it's the ripple effect. Actually, I think they're both the same effect.

What I'm saying is that your skill is a good skill to have.

12. Thank you...
I usually post here in the lounge and soak up what others say in GD or LBN, since others are so much more articulate than I.

14. not in the general sense, but in work...
most ppl in the group I'm in are professionals (degreed), none are double E's. I test stuff in my job in a production environment. if something fails, we fix and move on to meet schedules/production output/$/etc. I have to explain the nature of the failure and the recommended fix - if you have an EE, this should take 10 minutes - if you are not, it runs 3 days - I call that a delay, and you are holding me up - why do you ask?

15. Was just curious....
Sometimes people say "X" is holding me back, but don't really mean that.
Like, if I were to say I couldn't get into acting because my kid was holding me back...but that wouldn't be true. It would be *me* holding my own self back, and blaming my kid.

But if people are actually in your way, and being a hinderance to your progress, that's different.

18. it's a cool job, but I feel like I could be much more productive.
it's too convenient to blame my lab for holdups - word gets back to me since I can't afford to go to mtgs. automatically demmed a reb.

guess I love work too much and that isn't good in this profession.

And I have a strong interest in filmmaking too. I'm also a bit of a computer nerd.

And I've got plenty of time ahead of me.

Edit: Oh yeah, and right now I'm working on my bachelor degree. Political science.

17. I have a highly integrated brain...
Edited on Thu Jun-02-05 09:23 PM by VelmaD
I have a degree in social work but am also very good with numbers. I am good at making numbers and statistics meaningful for people who are not math-minded. And vice versa...I spend a lot of time in my job trying to help accountants understand the mind-set of the psychologists and caseworkers we work with.
