Looking for something.
I don't know what it is. I want to learn to fly. I want to go home and lower my BP - my chest is tight. I want to get settled... god, I am so unsettled!

On my desk are two beanie babies -- Butch and Snip. A pamphlet about Corolla, NC's, wild horses. A soft black & white cat that I picked up in VA a few weeks ago. A Diet Pepsi w/ Lime (experiment). My debit card and $30. Assorted pens, post-its, scribbles. A hard boiled egg in the shell that I bought for a snack. My bottle of Ritalin. Some pretzels left over from lunch last week. My boss's indispensable reference book, American Indian Reservations and Trust Areas. And somewhere on this desk are two sheets of paper I need badly but can't find.

But that's not what I'm looking for. I need something.... What is it? Not a drink, not a smoke, not religion, not to sing.... maybe it's to sit outdoors and do nothing.

What do I need? What am I looking for?

1. Just a thought from a friend
who has been taking Ritalin for 22 years (I am narcoleptic). When I get like that I skip my dose if my life situation allows it. When you forsee a time that you won't need it don't take it and go sit outside or do whatever eases your soul. Just a thought. That stuff can really stir you up inside. Also that is the way I set my mind straight on a peaceful path, I can allow the thoughts to stop racing.

It could be any number of things but when I saw the Ritalin I thought I would key in on that because in my experience it can really get you going and there is no relief except to stop it for a bit.

I haven't taken any since last Thursday, until about half an hour ago. But I'll keep your advice in mind - thanks, MR. :pals:

3. Looking for peace?
I'll second your thought to sit outside and do nothing, or go for a nice walk, time and situation permitting... Just some time where there's nothing you have to do...

4. yes
I had it when we went to the Outer Banks a few weeks ago. We rode a ferry to Ocracoke Island. I stood at the rail and fed birds, and Lynz, I felt like I was flying. Being in the air, moving, the wind blowing in my face, the ocean all around. I need that kind of peacefulness.

After that experience, I wanted to go out on a hang glider. I asked the guy at a big kite shop if there was a weight limit. I exceed it by fifty pounds. It's something to shoot for.

I want to fly, or be on the ocean. I can't think of much else that's as peaceful. Sitting in my backyard is pretty good, too, but I'm a transplanted city girl and I'm not over BUGS yet.

:hi:

Thanks for the hug.

5. That sounds wonderful....
Being out on the water is a thing all its own.... I think that the hanggliding is an excellent goal to aim for :) Second to that, make friends with someone who has a boat and likes to go out on weekends?

6. Yeah! Mrs. V.'s best friend just bought a 33-ft cabin cruiser.
(Yeah, life's rough.) So I imagine we'll get to go out on the Chesapeake Bay 2-3 times this summer. :bounce:

Thanks for chatting w/ me on this. :)

7. SWEET!
:bounce: :bounce:

I'm so glad to be back on the east coast, and to know people with boats. We went to the beach on Sunday, which was wonderful :)

And you're welcome! :)
