My son wants me to take him to see Star Wars this afternoon, but...

Anyone else been forced to sit through a two-and-a-half hour movie that you didn't want to see?

How am I going to get out of this?

George Lucas' morality play about power madness and empire is appropriate now like it's never been before. And it's a damn entertaining movie too.

3. I think you will enjoy it

It is very strongly anti-Bush, and it delivers that message quite effectively in terms even the most brain-dead Freeper would understand.

And it's very action-packed, with lots of spectacular eye candy. Just check your brain at the door and go with it. Your son will be thrilled and will think you're the greatest for taking him. That alone will be worth it.

Ummm. . .on the other hand how old is your son? There are several disturbing scenes where pretty boy Anakin embraces his darker self.

It is rated PG-13 for a reason.

The last half hour of the movie is not something I would want anyone under the age of, say, 10 to see. It's pretty scary and gruesome. It would probably give a little kid nightmares.
