When you exercise,
what do you watch or listen to, in order to get your mind off of how utterly boring (and/or painful!) exercise is?

1. since i bike ride, and actually enjoy it, don't need something to get my
off of it.

no exercise program will work if it isn't something you enjoy or look forward to.

3. I have to agree
Exercise isn't fun when you start, but after a while (if you're doing the right exercise for you), it should get to feel really good.

4. I power walk
And listen to hard hitting stuff with a fast beat to match my steps. Usually metal/rap/alternative. Same thing with my light weight workout, like right now it's 'I'm afraid of Americans, David Bowie and NIN

5. Music
I listen to the radio while I walk on the treadmill.

There is a station around here that plays mostly 80s - present and is essentially DJless, so that's what I listen to.

I need to find an MP3 player so I can take my songs to the park with me when I walk outside.

9. I don't find my exercise boring or painful.
I do Leslie Sansone's WATP videos (mostly the Express series and the Power Series, but I have several others I mix in). When I do separate strength training, I listen to whatever I find on my husband's computer (my weight bench is in the same room as his computer).

When I walk or run outside, I don't listen to anything. I just enjoy the outdoors.

10. I do something else.
If you're not enjoying what you're doing, you're doing something wrong. If you get bored then you won't get the benefits of the exercise in the first place.

14. I listen to the other people.
:)

I can't motivate myself to work out on my own. When I do get some exercise, it's usually while playing some kind of team sport.

16. Depends
If I'm walking or on the stairclimber, I listen to Books on Tape...mostly murder and mayhem. But, if I'm running (well, jogging...you can't call what I do running), or on the elliptical, I listen to ska on my iPod.
And I listen to absolutely nothing when I swim. Which is wonderful; it's like meditation.

19. Since I walk outside, I can't watch anything.
I listen to classical CDs, usually Baroque. I couldn't do it without music. It would be too utterly dreary.

23. TV but content depends on the type of exercise
If it's cardio, I like to watch Booknotes or something else that is low-key, somewhat pleasant and intellectually stimulating. If free weights, I'll watch something that pisses me off like Scarborough country or Hannity&Colmes. I think of the iron as the remorseless stupidity of the RW and the anger helps me through a "wall." I avoid O'Reilly cuz I'm afraid I might bust something.
